 JUNE  2023

LAKEVILLE CENTER FOR THE ARTS, MINNESOTA

Installation of "THOREAU-FARE" de-commissioned DOT signs and fabricated steel.

History suggests Henry David Thoreau’s Walden Cabin consisted of 3 chairs; one for contemplation, two for conversation, and three for community. This sculptural gathering space is inspired by Thoreau’s 3 chairs, as it provides a place for solitude or dialogue. The signs integrate yellow, a color representing the act of "slowing down”.  This slowing down provides a public place, within the "thoroughfare" to pause, rest and listen to others.
